GameBlast18: announcement

It’s with regret that we must announce a change to our upcoming GameBlast18 marathon stream for SpecialEffect. This was originally planned for 03-04 March 2018 but sadly events outside our control mean it’s necessary to move the event to an alternative date.

The adverse weather conditions here in the UK have caused travel chaos on trains and roads, making it extremely difficult for Ben and Nathan to reach our location in Essex. In addition, a family member has been taken critically ill and our focus is therefore needed elsewhere at the present time.

We sincerely appreciate the donations and support received so far: we didn’t expect to reach 61% of our fundraising target before the event had started and it’s thanks to you awesome people. This announcement isn’t a cancellation but a postponement, and we plan on making our followers proud next month.

Our 24-hour stream will now take place from 08:00 BST on Saturday, 07 April 2018 and all sponsorship received via our JustGiving page goes directly to SpecialEffect, the gamers charity. This wonderful organisation levels the playing-field for those with physical disabilities by helping them to play video games.

In the meantime, we’ll aim to stream to our Twitch channel as much as possible this coming weekend as practice for the new date. There’ll also be a mini-marathon during the afternoon of Saturday, 10 March 2018 from Ethan featuring games about cats and virtual reality (VR).

We’d like to thank our readers again for their support and patience, and ask everyone to please look after themselves in the snow.

Wrap up warm – Ben, Kim, Nathan, Pete and Ethan   ❤

  1. I’m sorry to hear about your family member’s illness and I wish them a speedy recovery! Family comes first, so I’m sure everyone will understand the postponed stream. And for me personally, this means I might actually get to see it, as I was not gonna be able to be there this weekend. So hopefully when the time comes I can be there to support you all (and try to keep Nathan awake again, haha).!

  2. I hope all turns out well with your family member! I’m sending positive energy and thoughts his/her way.

Still very much looking forward to the stream and congratulations for reaching 60% of your goal so far! Stay safe with the extreme weather.

  3. Hang in there and be with your family… and remember to look after yourself (a coffee run is always a good idea) – I hope things work out, and I’m looking forward the stream… Ideally in warmer weather if you could arrange that…

  4. As a Canadian, I feel you pain about the snow thing. It’s a mess I tell ya! I’ll never forget the winter we got 80+ cm of snow in one day. Took me forever to shovel out my car, haha. We’ve had a surprisingly easy winter this year so it sounds like the snow went there instead… sorry, eh. 🙂

Stay warm and safe! Good luck with the new stream date. I also wish your family member all the best. I’m so sorry to hear about their situation 😦
