Editorial: April 2018
Spring has sprung
Welcome to April’s editorial for 2018, where we’re meant to be celebrating the start of spring and are instead shivering in the snow! Let’s take a look back at what happened in March as well as find out what’s coming up this month.

Personal backstory:March wasn’t a great month for us unfortunately: as mentioned in my GameBlast18 update last week, my gran-in-law sadly passed away at the beginning of the month. She was an absolute legend – one of the most independent, stubborn and humorous people I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting – and someone we all looked up to. This lady will be sorely missed. I’ve therefore not been as involved in the community as I normally would be recently (I’ve been hiding away in The Elder Scrolls Online for the past few weeks), but we’re now ready to get back in the game. Our 24-hour marathon stream for SpecialEffect this weekend will be a good place to start. Join myself, Ben, Nathan and Pete on our Twitch channel from 08:00 BST on Saturday as we attempt to raise as much funds and awareness for this amazing charity as possible. |

The community:A massive thank you and big hug to everyone who has nominated Later Levels for an award recently. You guys kept me writing throughout March and most of the posts published last month were dedications to some very lovely bloggers. They gave me the opportunity to write about a wide range of subjects, from AI in video games for The Gaming Diaries to the title I still can’t manage to play for Dan from The Couch Petito. Chris from OverThinker Y is currently taking part in a 24-hour Minecraft marathon as part of the Brain in Hand team, and they’re raising money for Positively Autism right now over on their Twitch channel so go say hello! For more events, it’s a great idea to check out the community section on The Codex: Online – thanks to Will for putting this together and keeping us informed. |

Glad to hear you’re off to rezzed. Ellen and I are both attending the Saturday show for the first time

Excellent, you’ll really enjoy it! I’ll be there with the boys on Saturday so listen out for the noisy group – come and say hello if you hear us. 🙂

I hope your stream goes well this weekend. It sounds like you have a great month ahead. I’m so sorry for your loss last month.

I will hopefully be there on Friday for most of the day! Give me a shout if you’re about… Or look out for me in a Twig from Owlboy t shirt… that troublemaker…

It’s ‘adult’ time on Friday – a whole day at Rezzed without the stepson. It means you might actually get a half-sensible conversation out of us. 😉

Sounds good! 😁… after Insomnia I’m feeling pretty old … I’ve no idea who any of the YouTubers were that had big queues… 🙁 I’m hoping that Rezzed will rebalance that!

When we went last year, the only reason I knew who some of them were was because of the stepson. After listening to some of them though, I’m kind of glad I’ve never had the pleasure of watching their videos… 😂
