It’s time for a new Question of the Month, one which will see us attempt to answer a quandary that has been puzzling the gaming community since they first realised Princess Peach was never going to stop being kidnapped. But first let’s find out who won July’s challenge!
Pix1001: Judgement Maker (@Pix1001) July 23, 2018
Last month, The Gaming Diaries asked: It is coming into wedding season, if the shops and people I know are anything to go by. So in that spirit, you and a plus-one are attending the gaming wedding of the year. Which video game character do you take to the wedding and which character gives you advice on what to wear? She reviewed all the answers submitted in response and here’s her judgement:
“My winner is Pix1001 from Shoot the Rookie. Even though her answer is slightly evil, I loved her answer because it was so funny, the scenario she described was wonderful and I loved how the plus one and fashion advisor fitted with what she was planning.
“Honourable mentions have to go to Brandon from That Green Dude and Ian from Adventure Rules. I loved that Brandon picked a wedding with characters that meant something to him and sounded sweet; especially as it wouldn’t happen in the games but I liked that he said he would be invited as a fan. Ian’s answer was just so wholesome and lovely; bringing a plus one to be a wingman sounds so nice, especially for a character who sounds like they deserve to get some happiness.”
Congratulations to Pix1001 and thank you to everyone who joined in with July’s question! Now let’s find out more about our latest star blogger along with the challenge they’ve set us for August 2018.

Brandon Green 🐝 (@ThatGreenDude95) July 26, 2018
Brandon hails from Stoke-on-Trent here in the UK but tells me he’d rather live in Tolkien’s Shire with Frodo, Sam and the rest of the hobbits (which nicely paves the way for the question he has put forward for this month!). He started the That Green Dude site back in January last year but considers its official start date to be later in August, as it was around then he decided to post more frequently and become involved with the blogging community.
This friendly writer has a focus on niche Japanese titles along with retro video games with his favourite series including Kingdom Hearts, Tekken, Yakuza and Dynasty Warriors. He’ll sometimes take a break from these however and publish articles on other subjects including martial arts movies and Yu-Gi-Oh! cards. If you ever need motivation for your own site, it’s worth keeping an eye on as Brandon regularly throws out questions to the community which are great starting material for a post.
He recently published his 100th article which contains a list of links to some of his favourite work, including this great poem inspired by Kingdom Hearts. But it’s this post about not turning your back on your dreams which contains the most important message. As written by Brandon himself: “The journey towards fulfilling them may be difficult but never give up. Everybody can achieve their goals if they work hard enough towards them. I know I can do it, and I know you can too.”
The question set for us by Brandon is: Many of us say that we would like to live in a video game world but surely we would have a family. My question is, which video game characters would be a part of your family in a gaming world of your choice?
If you’d like to get involved, publish your answer to Brandon’s question at a time that suits you before 28 August 2018 and leave us a link in the comments below. There are no rules on word-limit or format so you can be as creative as you like: write a post, record a video, create a drawing, or impress us with another unique idea.
Our star blogger will then choose their favourite entry and the winner will be announced at the beginning of September. Good luck to everyone who’d like to participate this month!
