Gamers blog party: autumn 2018 invitation

The nights are starting to get darker, the air is turning cooler, and we’re beginning to reach for the bigger jumpers in the back of the wardrobe. Let’s celebrate the end of summer and the start of autumn with another blog party: set yourself up for a great week by getting to know the awesome writers around you and reading their finest posts.

The rules are simple:

πŸŽ‰   Arrive at the party: don’t be shy and stand in the corner – say hello and introduce yourself in the comments below! Give an introduction to your blog to welcome new readers and let us know what you’re all about.

πŸŽ‰   Present your gift: think about the posts you’ve written during the past three months and choose your favourite or one which was fun to write. Leave a link to it in your comment and explain why you’ve picked it.

πŸŽ‰   More games please: so many video games yet nothing to play! Help me find some new titles to pique my interest by telling everyone what you’re playing right now and the upcoming release you’re most looking forward to.

πŸŽ‰   Mingle: grab yourself a drink, make your way over to the sofa, pick up a controller and get to know your fellow guests! Check back on the comments throughout the day to discover excellent sites and meet new bloggers.

πŸŽ‰   Party all day: the comments below will be open for 24-hours until 06:00 BST on Tuesday, 18 September 2018 so you’ve got plenty of time to meet and greet. Plus your posts will be shared on the Later Levels’ social media channels!

These blog party events are my way of giving something back to the amazing WordPress community and showing my appreciation for all of your support. I’ve had the opportunity to meet some lovely people and talented writers over the past couple of years; here’s a little thank you and a way of finding some awesome blogs you may not have come across already.

The record number of posts shared in a single event still stands at 28; can we beat that time time around? Enjoy – and excuse while I go find some more batteries for the controllers!

PS: fancy being a star blogger and setting the next Question of the Month challenge for the community in October? Then please get in touch!

  1. Hello, nice party, love the decorations. Very…retro.
I’m Alex, blogging honourably under the banners of storytelling and satire. Here’s a video game related post that in a new category of mine:

As for what I’m playing right now: Yet again The Witcher 3 has sucked me in. I am enjoying the Blood and Wine expansion. I also act as an advisor to my girlfriend who has finally come around to play The Witcher as well. Witcher, Witcher, Witcher, ok, fine, there’s other games, too. I know. I WANT to play Death Stranding soooo bad, but it’s not even close to be out. But that’s what I’m most excited about.
    Did I forget anything?

  2. Hello. I’m on time this year! Also who says big jumpers have to be at the back of the wardrobe.

My gift to you and especially you Kim since you were asking for new games, is my newest “feature”: update posts.

Hopefully you may find something on there Kim.

For everyone else there’s pizza on order which will hopefully arrive in a sensible amount of time.
I’m going to grab coffee and hog the tv for a while.

  3. *Bursts in through the door and forces everyone to switch off the lights before strutting around showing off a pair of LA lights trainers*

Check out these shoes! Why did having flashing lights on trainers ever go out of fashion?!?

*Jumps around a little more to show off the effect until everyone gets bored and Kim switches the lights back on*

Hello! I’m Luke from over at . I blog about games in a sort of rambling kind of way… Often without much of a point. As always thanks for throwing this excellent party – that is an epic cheese and pineapple hedgehog!

So I’ve brought along a retro tale about Postman Pat’s nightmare on Atari ST.

As far as currently playing goes, I’m actually between games. I’ve just finished replaying Metal Gear Solid on PS1, and also Torn in VR.

    How’s everyone doing?

    Liked by 9 people

    • Trust you to make an entrance Luke! And damn, I feel old now… LA Lights and Postman Pat…

Ooh now Torn looks interesting. We’ve been on the hunt for some VR games which are more to our taste (ie not party or horror titles). How are you finding it?

      • Torn is a bit of a mixed bag. Environments look nice and it has that mysterious and slightly sinister vibe (although it’s not a horror). I’m not entirely sold on the plot (I’ve played things with similar plots that do it better).

The main game mechanic (and I don’t think this is spoiling because you’re introduced to it early on) involves moving random objects around the rooms to connect up circuits in the walls. it’s… Fine… I guess, but aside from a few minor variations it’s a case of look for the right object and put it into the right place over and over again. The big problem is that with moving all these objects around in a room there’s often a lot of things doing that slightly glitchy juddering and bumping off/into/through other objects. The whole place feels very cluttered.

Overall it’s also quite short and I don’t really think it’s worth the money sadly. ☹️

        • I was kind of hoping you were going to say Torn was great… I had a quick look at the game on Steam and the storyline sounded pretty cool. 😦

Have you tried The Assembly? My other-half and I really enjoyed that one – we need more like this.

          • There’s a lot of atmosphere there to enjoy, and maybe I just wasn’t in the right mood for the plot… Or maybe just not enough dinosaurs…

Haven’t tried the assembly yet, but I’ve been intrigued by it. Might have to try it if it’s on your recommendation list.

… I’m assuming that you’ve played Rhombus of Ruin?

            • Are there ever enough dinosaurs? πŸ€”

We haven’t tried Rhombus of Ruin yet, but I want to finally complete Psychonauts first. I’m ashamed to say I haven’t yet done it!

              Liked by 1 person

              • I’m sure you’ve mentioned this before… Also I’ve probably mentioned that you should complete Psychonauts! πŸ˜› …

Yeah, or wouldn’t make much sense without finishing the first game. Again, it’s kind of an interlude between the original and the upcoming sequel.

                • I’ve been trying to stream a lot more recently so I think I might add Psychonauts onto the list for a weekend session; that way I can’t back out of it and you’ll know once it’s done! We’ve got Myst lined up for the next stream though so we’ll need to remember how to get through that first. πŸ˜‚

                    • Well hang on there… I have a spare key for the first game. You’re more than welcome to it, if you’d like it! πŸ™‚

                    • It’d be my pleasure. I already had Myst but received a second key after backing the 25th Anniversary campaign, so I was waiting for someone to say they hadn’t played it yet! I’ll DM it over to you. πŸ™‚

  4. Hey all! Name is Nana. Early this time, huh?

Anyway, my blog(which is turning 1 next month) is all about games, anime and me making my own games. I also use Weebly, because portfolio.

My gift is something I wrote last month, about I have been inspired by Japanese games, I personally think it’s my best post yet:

Oh yea, and I’m playing Final Fantasy XIII, and I’m in the open world bit. I felt like I was playing a different game. Also trying to 100% Tomb Raider 2013!

Hopefully I can meet some new people!

  5. Hello, party people! I’m Chris, and I spend a lot of time thinking too hard about stuff so I figured why not write about some of that stuff? The result is a blog that’s been fairly quiet as of late, because all my effort has gone into creating the post I’ve brought with me today:

This was my semifinal entry for Adventure Rules’s Blogger Blitz event (if you don’t know about this, you should really go and find out about it!), and although I lost to GitGudAtLife I had a lot of fun and no regrets!

Currently I’m playing Kingdom Hearts 2 (the PS4 version, going for the platinum trophy), but that’s pretty much the constant state of affairs and therefore not really news, so… my other half and I are currently slinging and swinging around New York in Spider-Man, and I’m also playing the first two Danganronpa games on Steam. Very much looking forward to the Spyro Reignited Trilogy!

    Have fun, everyone..!

  6. Hi everyone, you’re all looking rather snazzy! This place is really jumping!

I’m Pix1001 and I write for a blog called Shoot the Rookie which is supposed to be about me being rubbish at video games but mostly isn’t.

Seeing Khinjarsi’s post which includes some thoughts on The Sexy Brutale has inspired me to share my recent article about the same game. It was my first attempt at doing a slightly more formal almost review type thing:

I have a looooong list of games that are on my β€˜now playing’ list, but mostly I’m playing Persona 5 – enjoying it so far although wow is it dark!! There are a few upcoming games on my horizon including the Spyro Reignited series as well as Torna: The Golden Country which came out on Friday. The game I am most excited about though has to be Untitled Goose Game!

Looking forward to meeting some awesome people today πŸ™‚

  7. Good morning, everyone! I’m Ian Shepard, the executive producer, creative director, head writer, lead artist, and social media manager for the gaming blog Adventure Rules! As is normal for me with these things, I’ll have to pop in and drop off my post now and then get around to reading everyone else’s posts late tonight when I’m home from work. But hey, I’m excited to contribute to the first blog party to break 30 submissions! The game I am currently playing is Animal Crossing: New Leaf, which I’m playing for my second first time after hearing the announcement for a Switch title coming to the series in 2019. The game I am most looking forward to right now, though, is probably Super Mario Party, an amazing game for circumstances just like this one that I hope will add a lot of excitement to my monthly game nights.

Since Kim is looking for game recommendations, I figure the best post I can share is this impromptu review I wrote of the Mega Man 11 demo: ! I had a lot of fun with the demo and just as much fun throwing this review together – as soon as I put the game down, inspiration struck and within an hour this was posted on Adventure Rules. It was fun to reminisce about old times and the way that Mega Man 11 took me back while also feeling like a fresh take on the series left me feeling quite positive about the game. It comes out in October (so quite soon) and will be available on multiple platforms, so those who don’t have a Switch (my normal console of discussion) can still get in on the fun with this one.

Kim, thanks for hosting this! The place looks lovely after the redesign and it seems like the party is starting off strong.

    • Hey Ian, thanks for taking a quick break from Blogger Blitz to stop by! I should have known you’d rock up to a blog party with a few Nintendo games under your arm. πŸ˜‰

How are you and Destiny doing? I hope you’ve both scheduled in some well-deserved time off after this year’s competition!

  8. Good Morning another Blog Party don’t mind if I do :p well I’m Rob and I currently write for Bandicoot Warrior where me and a team of 3 write blog posts on Gaming, Music and Films and can range from retro to present.

Bringing to the table is one of my latest posts where i discuss questions asked on games and gaming related questions and passed on to share with others, check out below.

Game I’m currently playing is switching between Fallout 4 and Spiderman.
Spiderman cause of it being released recently and well it’s awesome and Fallout cause of the BETA for Fallout 76 coming out in 2 weeks!

But the game I would suggest for playing or looking forward to would be Red Dead Redemption 2 the previous one was pretty good so to see what’s on the table with this one will be great!

I would also recommend LEGO Marvel super heroes 2 as me and the Wife have had fun playing it together in our spare time.

Once again thanks for hosting this Kim the party is great and full of new people to browse and once again I’ve bought the Pringles and Jack Daniels!!

    • Oh I see… you’re back again at another blog party to make me feel guilty about not starting on the Fallout series, aren’t you? πŸ˜‰

I completed most of Red Dead Redemption back in the day but never quite made it to the end, so that’s another game I need to add to the list to actually finish. My backlog just seems to keep getting longer though ha ha! I really do need to complete it before the sequel comes out though.

      • Haha make you feel guilty about the Fallout Series? Nahhhh 😜 and I loved RDR when it came out me and a few mates were playing it online trying for hours to get the most wanted trophy for ages!
Can’t wait to see the new game to see the changes Rockstar have done and you’ve got loads of time to finish the first one 😜

And miss a blog party I can’t do that! 😜

    • Welcome! We are less than a month from rdr2 and im super excited. Using the hunting rifle to shoot people ofd their horses, raiding camps and playing short missions with friends were so of my highlights in the first rdr. Im sooo excited for this game. Oh yea.. Cant forget running for survival at bear claw camp!

  9. Hey!! I’m at work so I can’t party too hard right now, unfortunately. But yeah, I’m Ellen and I enjoy babbling online about video games!

My favourite most fun post that I wrote recently was my Blogger Blitz Black Sheep entry. Blogger Blitz is always a fun time and forces me to try to be creative:

I’m now playing Metal Gear Solid 2 and going for the Platinum trophy. Snake is awesome!! I’m not looking ahead to any new releases because I already have more than enough games I need to focus on finishing right now.

    Have fun guys! 🍻

  10. Hello!

I’m Will from GSRR! Murr is also a member but he’s a bit less active at the moment due to being an adult – his wife is about to have a baby.

I’m bringing you one of our Geekly Reviews because it gives a pretty good overview of both what we’re currently playing and the kinds of games we like to play.

We mostly play video games but we do also do board games too! So stick around if you like that sort of thing.

At the moment I’m playing SCUM – an online survival game. Destiny 2 Forsaken. And I’m making my way through a lovely little puzzle game called The Gardens Between – more on that this week!

And I’m going to EGX this week, so say hi if you’re going!

Hey all, I’m Gary from Art of Redress….for now. I’ve decided to make a change in the future, hopefully I’ll be ready for the start of October. I’ve been trying to write about games, wrestling, films and music but I feel I’ve overstretched myself, plus there are loads of other changes I want to make. I want to continue blogging but I want to simplify things too.

Here is a post I did a while back about getting the original Xbox should you care to read about a man so deluded, he thinks he can lift up an Xbox…

I’d recommend the Buffy game from the Xbox if you need a game to play – bit Tomb Raider, but close to the original Buffy TV show.

*Offers everyone a hobnob, then quickly eats whole packet*

    • Ooh upcoming changes huh… now that sounds intriguing! Sometimes you need a bit of an overhaul to clear our the cobwebs and reset direction – I did the same recently and feel as though I’m more on track. Good luck with everything you have planned! πŸ™‚

I think my other-half has still go his original Xbox in the loft somewhere, so I might have to find a copy of Buffy and dig it out…

  12. Blog party time is my favorite! It’s autumn, so this time I decided to bring with me my “award-winning” delicious pumpkin chili, or chili con carne as it’s known in some geographic regions. It’s a classic dish in St. Louis, but I’ve never met anyone who doesn’t like it when they give it a shot. I also brought a veggie pumpkin chili, which I make for Nikki sometimes and think is just as good, but it strangely hasn’t won any awards. πŸ˜€

Anyway, I’m Matt, and I run the blog Normal Happenings! We are about appreciating everyday life, and as such can be very very optimistic. On that note, I think you’d enjoy a recent blog post of mine called “I Am a Polyanna: Personal Positivity in the Face of Societal Negativity:”

Our game-talk seems to be at the intersection where video games meet real life. On that premise I’ve rounded up 35 amazing bloggers, Kim included, for a big collaboration called The Games That Define Us. I’ve seen some of the amazing work already submitted, so please keep an eye out each day in November. It’s going to be amazing!

Anyway, if you need me I’ll be mingling, but I might also be over there playing Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze on the Switch because I’m currently obsessed with it. πŸ™‚

    • Why hello there Matt, fancy seeing you here. πŸ˜€

Everyone has been working so hard on their contributions for The Games That Define Us project. I haven’t been saying much in the group conversation but I’ve been trying to keep up with the discussion when I can and it’s clear that everybody is putting in a lot of effort! Can’t wait to see the final result in a couple of months.

  13. Hello everyone! *waves* I bring cake.

I blog about games funnily enough and touch on some real life stuff. I plan to stretch into some other geeky territory as my site was meant to be about games and life as a gamer and such related things. Of course none of these posts are written but hey that’s what the future is for right?

Anyway, aside from cake I also bring a blog post here about the best and worst of Crash.

In terms of games I’m playing Crash Bandicoot N-sane Trilogy in tiny bits so I don’t get too annoyed at myself for dying for the umpteenth time, Picross S2 and Yakuza 0. Though there are so many that I want to play… I need a time machine/time turner. Really looking forward to Spyro being released as well.

    • Hey you, it’s lovely to have you here!

Whenever I ask what you’re playing at the moment, you always mention such a wide variety of games. It makes me kind of think that perhaps I need to broaden my horizons a little more… before I end up reaching for yet another adventure or RPG ha ha! πŸ˜€

      Liked by 1 person

      • Haha I like to keep you all on your toes with what I’m playing! Also known as I like a range so if I don’t feel like a platformer or RPG I have something else to pick up. I like my broad horizons but most of the time there is one I’m more likely to go to, at the moment that is Yakuza 0 because it’s the longest and I can ignore the story and do the minigames if I don’t feel like doing the story.

        • That’s a coincidence – @Kelly is talking about Yakuza O below! Yet another one I haven’t tried and need to add to my list (which is growing rapidly today).

            • OMG I love Outrun! I used to steal my brother’s Game Gear all the the time when I was a kid so I could play it (I had a Game Boy instead).

              • I was sure I remembered you saying that before hence why I mention that you can spend time in the arcade playing it. I have had quite a few attempts at it, not always great attempts but it is good fun.

                • Ha ha you have a great memory! I can’t say I was ever that great at Outrun either, but I used to really enjoy the music so that kept me playing. πŸ™‚

  14. Hello everyone! My name is Kelly and my blog is called Why We Play Games! I love to write about games and why we play them.

My gift is my post on Yakuza 0 which was my first Yakuza game! I loved the series after this game and finished Yakuza 6 and I am now playing Yakuza Kiwami.

I am currently playing Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE for the Wii U and Yakuza Kiwami for the PS4. I could not decided which one to play so I decided I would play both games!

The game I am most looking forward to playing is Kingdom Hearts 3 next year!

Hope everyone has fun and I am excited to meet more bloggers!

  15. Thank you for hosting Kim! I’m finally here on time and not days late as I have been for the last few parties. I’ve brought my famous taco ring which is taco meat wrapped in crescent rolls and baked. There’s toppings as well so dig in!

My name is Luna and I run GamersUnitedGG which is a video game and interests blog. I normally write about video games, Netflix series and WWE.

My gift today is the community event that I am hosting! It’s a video game reality house where i’m asking bloggers to nominate characters to participate. Each week there will be an episode, a chance to save characters and an elimination vote. The deadline for submissions is being extended until 9/25/18 so feel free to join in.

Currently I am playing Overcooked 2, achievement hunting in Civilization 5 and playing Game of Sultans on mobile. I’ve brought Overcooked 2 with me so let’s play!

  16. Hello everyone! I’m Brandon from That Green Dude. I write about video games, primarily Japanese and niche video games but I cover them all. I’ll sometimes write about Martial Arts movies and Asian Cinema as there are many fantastic films in those genres that underrated and in some cases unheard of.

Last week Sega announced a new game called Project Judge and they also released a demo for it. The demo is only available on the Japanese PS store, so you’ll need a Japanese PlayStation account to play the demo. Luckily I have a Japanese account so I downloaded the demo and played. I wrote about the demo because it has the potential to be one of my favourite games, it combines investigative detective work with hard-hitting action.

Here are my impressions: “After playing the Project Judge demo I was left thinking, Sega could have another hit on their hands”.

I’ve been playing several games lately, Tekken 7, Final Fantasy XV, Dino Crisis 2 (for what could possibly be the 100th time) and Yakuza Kiwami 2. I’m about to do Yakuza Kiwami 2 on Legend difficulty before I do my review of it, which I’m hoping to post early October.

Also if there are any bloggers who are playing the Kingdom Hearts games in preparation of Kingdom Hearts 3, don’t hesitate to message me. I’ve got a truck full of tips and tricks, especially for Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2.

    • I really need to finish up my Kingdom Hearts series run eventually before 3 comes out. I got kind of “stuck” on Birth by Sleep because I don’t really like it. Kingdom Hearts 2 is one of my favorites of all time though

      • KH BBS is a huge game. I like BBS, my third favourite behind 1 and 2. It’s an essential part of the story so it can’t be missed. Thunder Surge is a bit busted in BBS, quite reliable to lean on if you’re struggling in battle as it has good damage properties and radius.

Also the play order for BBS is Terra, Ventus, Aqua. Do them out of order and there will be a few spoilers. πŸ™‚

    • There seems to be a theme at this blog party with Final Fantasy, Yakuza and Kingdom Hearts getting multiple mentions. I’m so out of the loop – I can’t seem to get into the first and haven’t yet tried the second and third! 😳

Still, I may get a chance to try out Kingdom Hearts at EGX this week. It’s such a shame I’m going to miss you there!

      • I’d go to KH3 first, the queue for that is going to be massive. The 1.5 + 2.5 collection on PS4 is a great way to start. I’ve been waiting for Kingdom Hearts 3 for over 10 years now, I am incredibly hyped for it.

As for Yakuza start with Yakuza 0 which recently got reduced to Β£20. You can get that on PS4 or PC.

For Final Fantasy, pick any number and play it. My favourites are FF6, 7, 8, 10 and 15.

It’s a shame that I won’t be able to see you at EGX but I hope you have a good time and enjoy the games on the show floor πŸ™‚

        • Unfortunately I’ve already promised my other-half we’ll queue up for The Division 2 as soon as we arrive. He’s been hyped for it for ages, and didn’t get a chance to try it at Insomnia last month because we had the under-18 with us. I’ll at least try and stop by the Kingdom Hearts stand though to see what’s going on though!

Looking forward to comparing notes with you on games next week. πŸ˜‰

I blog about a variety of gaming and technology related topics amongst other things. As for games, I am currently playing I have just started Shadow of the Tomb Raider but I have been playing a lot of World of Warcraft, Destiny 2 and Splatoon 2 lately. There are just so many games I want to play currently and not enough time to do so.

I talk about pretty much every game under the sun, but I focus a lot on indies and underrated hidden gems in order to give more attention to games that deserve it. A good way to get to know the kinds of games I like is to read my gamer confessions tag blog:

I just finished playing through the entire Life is Strange series so I could prepare for Life is Strange 2 coming out in a week. Now, I’m struggling a bit with finding a new game to play. I’ll probably be playing Child of Light next because it’s the game of the month over at How Long to Beat and I want to be able to discuss it.

I can’t wait to meet everyone and read their blogs!

    • Hey Hannie, welcome to the blog party! πŸ‘‹

I started playing Life is Strange last year after being urged to do so by a few friends but just couldn’t get past the first episode. SO MUCH EMOTION – it just reminded me too much of being a teenager and all that angst, that I had to turn to another game for a bit of comfort! I really do need to go back to it though; and I want to fit in Twin Mirror also when it comes out.

      Liked by 1 person

      • Oh yeah, Life is Strange was one of the most emotionally draining experiences I’ve ever had in gaming. The only thing that got me through it was playing it alongside my fiance so we could cry together, at least!

        • To be fair to him, my other-half did stick around for the first episode but Life is Strange really isn’t his cup of tea, bless him. He’d much rather be playing Destiny 2 like @LeeksEverywhere above he he!

Spider-Man is my go to game right now though, as I’m sure it is for many people!

  21. *nudges open door with foot and comes in, bottles clinking in paper bags* Hey guys! I’m Athena and I’m from the newly-designed AmbiGaming Corner (although I almost typed AmbiGaming Colors so that should give you a hint as to what I changed haha). I come bearing drink ingredients from my Spirits ‘n’ Sprites series, so as soon as everyone is home from work I’ll start pouring! haha

It’s been sort of quiet over on my blog as I took care of some health issues, but I was very proud of this recent post about learning, gaming, and Assassin’s Creed Origins:

I’m currently playing through Witcher 3 and desperately trying to catch up with my Year of the RPG, but I’ll be pulling out Until Dawn in October (what’s Halloween without a spooky game, right?), and will be picking up Walden on the PS4, which is a simulator about Thoreau’s retreat to Walden pond that has had my eye since before its release earlier this year.

If you need me, I’ll be here mixing drinks.

    • Ooh look at you, all in blue! Loving the new site design Athena. πŸ˜€

Snap: I was planning to get around to finally playing Until Dawn next month too, because there’s a developer session on Man of Medan at EGX on Thursday that I’m going to try and get a seat at! Walden is new one for me but I’ve just watched the trailer and it seems really relaxing; looking forward to hearing your thoughts about this one.

    • Until Dawn is so much fun just for the scares and mystery. I recommend having friends over, even those who aren’t into games but like horror movies. It’s a joy for kids of all ages (except kids of certain ages).
Also The Witcher is one of my favourite game of all time. So much so that everytime someone mentions playing it I get the proud feeling as if I was responsible for the game to see the light of day.

      • Yeah I’m looking forward to Until Dawn, even if it results in me sleeping with the lights on for a week haha. Good idea about inviting friends over…

I am overall enjoying my time with The Witcher, for sure! Haha I get that feeling when it comes to the Dragon Age games, so I definitely get it πŸ™‚

  22. *knocks politely on the front door before quietly entering* I hope everyone is still hanging around! We’re here to bring a second wind to this party πŸ™‚

First off, this is such a cool ideaβ€”and something similar to what we’re aiming to do over on Couch Bandits. We’re a new gaming blog that focuses on telling stories about our experiences playing games, and we’d love to build Couch Bandits into a community of gamers sharing their stories, too!

We publish daily, and we’ve got some exciting stuff going up this week, including two interviews with upcoming indie game developers. We love highlighting little-known games and spreading the love πŸ™‚

Speaking of games we’d love to spread the word about, we’re obsessed with the tactical RPG series, Divinity. Here’s our post about the first game:

And we’re streaming our playthrough of the sequel on Twitch. As for other things we’re playing right now, we’ve been spending a lot of time with Octopath Traveler, Spider-Man PS4, Dragon Quest XI, and The Messenger. As you can tell, we’re big RPG fans.

Anyway, if you’re interested in collaborating, don’t hesitate to reach out. We love games and want to share that passion with everyone at the party!

I’ll let you all get back to the party. πŸ˜‚

  24. I’m fashionably late to the party, but I bring digital chocolate chip cookies, so you legally can’t be mad at me.

Hello, my name is Daniel and I’m a video game addict.

    Wait…wrong party.

Hi my name is Daniel and I’m the founder, editor, and only writer of Home Button. My goal is to share my view on gaming with a like minded community of people who get along, and tossing out all that fanboy nonsense; so basically all of you.

This is one of my recent articles that is a decent read:

But if you really want to get a sense of my taste in gaming you can look at this:

As for what I’ve been playing, I just finished the campaign of Spider-Man and plan on earning that sweet, sweet Platinum later this upcoming weekend. I’m so very stoked to play Assassin’s Creed Odyssey early next month, but am almost as excited for my biggest surprise of E3, Starlink. What? Yes, of course I’ll be playing the Switch version with Fox McCloud, what a silly question.

Oh, and my hype for Smash is so sharpened at this point you could cut various cheeses and meats on it.

Thanks for my invite to the party, I have next on Smash.

    • You made it, hi Daniel! I think it’s safe to say you’re in good company here with the rest of us addicts. πŸ˜‰

That’s a few mentions of Spider-Man now and I have to confess, I’ve not even watched the trailer. I have a feeling the stepkid is going to ask us to take him out next weekend so he buy it with his pocket-money though so no doubt we’ll get roped into playing it very soon ha ha!

        • I certainly do: I love the kind of games where you can just run and see what you can find. They can be tricky fitting in around adult stuff sometimes though; has it been easy enough to dip in and out of?

          • That is what I like most about it, if I want to sink hours ar a time into it running story missions I can, but if I only have 20 minutes I can just swing around stopping crimes or unlocking things.

            • Ooh ok, it sounds as though this could be a good one for us to fit with the stepson around family stuff then. Thanks for the tip! πŸ™‚

  25. Hello everyone! I’m fashionably late to the party, but I brought some ice!

My name is Eduardo and I’ve recently started a site called Random Select. Nice to meet everyone!

One of my favorite posts so far has been the one I wrote on tackling that pesky backlog:

Right now I’m playing Hollow Knight on the Switch and Fallout 4 on PS4. The former is a hauntingly beautiful, challenging and immersive game, that pulls me back like few games have ever done. The latter is a massive adventure that I just love, especially the whole building aspect of it. Both of them are very much recommended, and I’m looking forward to reviewing them soon.

Hope everyone’s having a good time!

    • Well hello there Eduardo, it’s lovely to have you here! πŸ‘‹

Seriously, will you people stop turning up at this blog party and mentioning Fallout 4 so I feel even guiltier about not having yet played it please (joking!)? Fallout 76 has been all my other-half has talked about recently so I really need to start getting up to speed…

      • Haha, I know the feeling! That’s kind of how I got started with it, too! I won’t say any more good things about it for now, I’m sure you’ll get to it when you get a chance…as for me, who knows where I’ll find the time to play Fallout 5 through 75 before Fallout 76 comes out!

        • That’s the problem with long-running franchises, isn’t it? They can be pretty daunting to get into! I’d love to go back to the original Fallout and play the series right from the beginning, but that’s so many hours right there…

    • I just finished up making a games inventory on How Long to Beat and realized I have a bit of an overflow situation. Like, it may take me the rest of my life to tackle what I have now, so I appreciate your post!

  26. Hi Everyone, think it’s been a little while since I was last came to the party! Don’t worry I’ve brought the Harry Potter Drinking Game for us all to play.

I’m Matt creator of ClanGeek, my blog is a mixing pot of Gaming, DnD and other geeky topics with some real life stuff thrown in for good measure.

Recently I’ve been playing The Walking Dead Final Season and OMG it is amazing. And honestly I’m not 100% how well I will cope if Telltale harm Clementine in any way. I think I may have to stop playing it right now before any harm comes to her (that’s how it works right?).

As a gift I’ve brought my post on Accents in Gaming. I’m a big fan of representation in gaming and there’s more to Britain than the Queen and the cockney accent so I hope my gift will give you an insight! I also think my gift may help you to understand what I’m saying at the party for those not from Northern England!

Either way glad to be here and see so many amazing bloggers. Also I can’t remember if I’ve said this before but a huge thanks for LaterLevels for hosting. I hope we don’t leave you with too big a mess at the end of the night!

    • You can always judge how good a party has been by the mess left afterwards, right? πŸ˜‰

As someone who has an Essex accent and hates to admit it, I’m very pleased to read that it was not once mentioned in your post! πŸ˜‚

      Liked by 1 person

      • True enough the mess you wake up to the next day is a good judgement of how well the party went!

I completely forgot to mention southern accents! I don’t know how. Personally I think an Essex protagonist would be amazing I can see it now πŸ™‚

        • If any developers are reading this and decide to follow up on Matt’s idea: I’m available for voice-acting at very reasonable rates (ie tea and chocolate biscuits).

  27. Hello there, NekoJonez here. From these who don’t know me yet; I’m a hobbyist retro/modern game reviewer. On my blog, I take you on a journey through all the games I have played since I was a little child till today. Here and there, I share my opinions on blogging related or subjects related to the gaming industry. Currently, I’m 25 years old and I live in Belgium.
Besides blogging, I act in a folk/amateur theater group, studying for my bachelor computer science degree, I’m a godfather, I work full time and I collect retro games.

I love playing games. Anything from casual to hardcore games. I even love those niche games that don’t get a lot of attention. Anyways, I love meeting new bloggers. If we haven’t connected on Discord, Twitter or on FB, feel free to do so. I love helping bloggers and giving feedback and things like that. Or just hanging out with them for a casual chat.
This is an article where I talk about I game I played quite a lot in my childhood. Age of Mythology. It got an extended edition. I created an extended review for it.

So, if you want game recommendations… What styles do you want? I can give you quite a lot.

-Don’t know what else to put here now…-

  28. Am I late to the party?!

Haven’t been to one of these in a long while! So hello! I am Michelle, I write for A Geek Girl’s Guide and I cover all sorts of geeky topics, but a lot of it is gaming. I am a big board game fan but also enjoy video games and mobile games. In fact, my post to share is a look at a mobile game I came across called Identity V (the V is 5 as a fyi). Here it is if you want a peek.

I brought Dr Pepper if anyone wants some. It’s my favorite!

    • Hey Michelle, glad you could make it!

Here’s question for you: are there any board games you’d recommend for someone who hasn’t really played board games before? Every time my other-half and I go to a convention we stop by the relevant stands and feel as though we should get involved, but don’t feel as though we know enough! πŸ™‚

    • Ah yes, a fellow Dr. Pepper fan.

I really need to get into more mobile games. I always just take a look at the storefront and sort of freak out over how many choices there are because I’m unfamiliar with the gaming landscape there. Maybe I’ll hunt down a “mobile gaming for dummies” post or something sometime πŸ˜›

  29. I have mostly playing Super Mario World and a game called UN squadron on my Hyperkin Supaboy S. It’s a portable handheld Super Nintendo which is rechargable, plays pal and NTSC cart’s. The best part is you can plug it in to a TV via an av cable and use original SNES controller’s on it. Very handy when you’re shopping for games and you want to see if it works.

  30. What’s happening good folks! It’s your boy TWOTALL4UFOOL! Or simply 2TALL (or Justin)! Whatever you wanna call me. You know blogging live to you and yours! Just want to say what’s up to everyone out there. In case you don’t know I run the blog TWOTALL4UFOOL’s Gaming & More. I recently changed the name. I brought a couple things with me like Kim asked. So here we go.

Games: If you have a PS4 you need to get Spider-Man. It’s the hottest thing out right now. Excellent game. Hadn’t played it in a few days since I had been extremely busy but I hope to be playing again tonight!

Blog Post: It’s me ranting about if Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is being overhyped (which it is).

If you want to read more great content check your boy out at . In the mean time I’m going to grab my 8Bitdo controller and a Dos Equis sit back, game on and mingle.

  33. Wow, that’s a lot of people. Hi everyone. I think I follow some of you already, I see I may need to expand to include a lot more. I’m Marathal, been around the Warcraft blogging area of the internet for many years, I have had a few previous blogs that fell by the way side, but managed to save many posts and included them in the one I have been using for awhile now Deez Wurds.

So I was thinking on what blog post to share, and I chose one from back in June that seemed to get quite a bit of traffic. Hope you enjoy, and thanks for taking a few minutes to read it.
